Trichocereus Peruvianus "Bonny" Seedlings 🌱 🌵

This listing is for 1 seedling approximate size is 3 to 6 inches.

*First two photos are not mine. Only sharing them so you can get an idea what to expect what your seedlings will look like as they grow.

May come with critters due to growing outdoors. These seedlings aren't as plump as they could be due to not growing in ideal conditions. Once you get your seedling settled and in the right conditions it will start growing beautifully.

👁️ Visual Characteristics👁
Bonny is highly sought after by collectors because it checks every single box for classic, rugged Trichocereus peruvianus morphology:
  • Massive Girth: It grows incredibly thick, heavy-set, heavy-ribbed columns that immediately stand out in a garden.
  • Dark Forest Green Skin: Unlike the frosty silver-blues of SS02 (brigessii) or Jessica (pachanoi), Bonny (peruvianus) typically features a very deep, rich, dark forest-green skin tone.
  • Prominent V-Notches: It has highly defined, deep chevron or "V"-shaped notches cut into the flesh directly above each areole, which gives the ribs a sharp, jagged, geometric texture.
  • Fierce Gold Spines: It pushes long, incredibly sharp, heavy-duty golden-to-honey-colored spines that contrast beautifully against its dark green flesh.
  • Height: When planted in the ground outdoors, it can easily reach 10 to 20 feet (3 to 6 meters) tall over time. If kept in a pot, it stays more compact but will still grow a solid 12+ inches (30 cm) per year under strong sun.
  • Girth: The individual columns grow massive and thick, reaching 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 cm) in diameter.
  • Growth Habit: It starts as a perfectly straight, fully erect vertical column. As the plant gets older and massive, it naturally clumps from the base, forming a sprawling candelabra of multiple heavy trunks.
🌸 The Flowers🌸
Like its parent species, Bonny produces absolutely breathtaking, show-stopping blooms once the plant matures (typically when a column reaches at least 4 to 5 feet tall).
  • Size & Color: The flowers are massive, trumpet-shaped, and pure white inside, measuring a spectacular 8 to 10 inches (20 to 25 cm) across and long.
  • Night-Blooming & Fragrant: The flowers open strictly at night and last for only about 12 to 24 hours. They release an intensely sweet, intoxicating, jasmine-like fragrance designed to attract nocturnal pollinators like sphinx moths and bats in the wild.
  • Fuzzy Buds: You will know flowers are coming when you see giant, dark brown or black woolly/hairy buds form near the very top apex of the ribs
☀️ Cultivation & Care Guide☀️
Bonny is highly resilient and handles weather fluctuations well, but it demands excellent drainage.
  • Light: Give it 6 to 8+ hours of direct sunlight daily. Full sun keeps its columns thick, prevents the tip from stretching (etiolation), and encourages it to flower.
  • Soil: It prefers a gritty, mineral-heavy, fast-draining substrate. Mix 60% to 70% inorganic materials (pumice, perlite, lava rock, or coarse sand) with 30% to 40% organic potting soil. Avoid heavy clays or soils that retain water.
  • Watering: Use the standard "soak and dry" method during the spring and summer growing season. Water deeply until water flows out the bottom of the pot, then let the soil dry out completely before watering again.
  • Winter Rest: When temperatures drop in the winter, stop watering completely. Bonny needs to go dormant in bone-dry soil. If kept completely dry, it is cold-hardy down to about 15°F to 20°F (-6°C to -9°C) for brief periods, though it's safest to protect it from hard freezes.
